Marcel Alcalá is a multidisciplinary artist whose work encompasses painting, sculpture, and performance. Alcalá’s work finds personal expression in exuberant cultural and aesthetic intersections. Alcalá is directly influenced and responds
to their lived experience as a queer artist of Mexican American heritage growing up in Southern California. Alcalá’s work has been shown at the Hammer Museum,
Los Angeles, CA; Swiss Institute, New York, NY; Night Gallery, Los Angeles, CA;
Blum and Poe, Los Angeles, CA; and Queer Biennial at Tom of Finland Foundation, Los Angeles, CA. In 2020, they were an Artist-in-Residence at Tom of Finland Foundation. Alcalá lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
